8 Video Game Enemies That Are Secretly Friends

1. Bowser - Mario

And now for a bit of a tongue-in-cheek entry to tie this list off. There's no denying that Mario's most prominent enemy is Bowser, who has been pestering everyone's favourite Italian plumber for an entire 40 years.

But if we approach the Mario franchise with even the faintest regard for continuity - which, honestly, might be a big mistake - we have to ask why Mario agrees to go go-karting with his arch-nemesis.

We're talking, of course, about Mario Kart, and the fact that Mario appears to willingly race around with the foe who has caused him so much hassle over the decades.

Hell, why would Princess Peach, the regular object of Bowser's kidnapping attempts, ever agree to get within spitting distance of the guy on the racetrack?

Sure, expecting consistent logic out of the Mario IP is a fool's errand, but if you want to rationalise this, it's perhaps a case of Mario and co. preferring to include Bowser in their fun activities rather than leaving him out, which will likely motivate him to crash the party and ruin everything anyway.

They're biblical frenemies then, basically.
