Now here's the thing: I know I've made it very clear that this was meant to be a list about secrets and events that happen ONLY on Halloween, but I'm going to include this next entry, even though it launches a few days before spookday, because it's such a lovely surprise.

Until Dawn is a title that managed to fill a niche of choose your own adventure style gameplay while looking and acting like a proper B-movie schlock-fest. It was brilliant fun and thanks to its numerous endings and fates, and is always worth a replay. Thanks to the an event that Supermassive Games ran in 2015, there was yet another reason to double down on the death, owing to the curious case of the hidden pumpkins.

The event ran for a week around Halloween in 2015 and saw the developer hide 11 pumpkins inside the game, some of which were so deviously sneaked away that it was a real treat for those who found them all. There was even a hashtag setup for fans to send pictures of them with all 11 pumpkins. Unfortunately, nothing was won or claimed for sharing them all, meaning Supermassive Games had suggested a treat, but actually provided a trick.
