8 Video Game Sequels That Went TOO FAR
3. Dead Or Alive Xtreme 3 Fortune/Venus
Ok so let's get something clear.
Yes, I have played every game in this weird offshoot of the Dead Or Alive franchise and no I'm not going to sit here and tell you I played them all for the surprisingly competent volleyball mechanics.
However what I did notice upon playing through the three games was that the length of the showers I'd need to take after to watch the stink off were getting longer and longer, and this was down to Fortune/Venus (depending on your console of choice) dropping all pretense of mini-game fun and silly narratives and instead became solely about "the plot".
The devs expected the third installment to make a splash with their pervy fanbase but ended up kicking a load of sand in their face thanks to the decision to drop some of the better fleshed-out mini-games in order to focus on the exposed flesh of the central cast.
In doing so the illusion was finally shattered, there was no paper-thin "But I love the gameplay" defense for the title, and even the die-hard set wasn't looking to rally behind this one, thus turning this swimsuit focused spin-off into an utter bin-off.
