World Champion asks of its players something almost no other publisher would dare, to top the global leaderboard if they wanted to pop a trophy. Unless you were first out the gate to grab this one, trying to obtain it for yourself was only going to get harder, and harder, until it became essentially impossible.
Even cheating doesn’t help much here since everyone else can cheat so that doesn’t give you much of an edge. You genuinely just have to play enough hours to get that good.
Unsurprisingly this is one of the rarest trophies on this list by some margin, with some of the tiny number of players who have scored the achievement claiming it took them between six months and thousands of hours of grinding to crawl their way up the leaderboard. Essentially, this game would have to become your job, and even then it’s no sure thing you’ll ever be as good as the very best.
It’s a small mercy that at least this one awards mastery of the game mechanics, but again that really is the smallest of small mercies from a merciless trophy.
