Live services like Apex Legends, Fortnite, and Fall Guys are constantly being updated, and even though patching a game might seem like a straightforward task, it's apparently not as simple as you'd think.

Just ask Mediatonic - the devs behind 2020's breakout hit Fall Guys - who committed an enormous accidental blunder when they updated their game in May 2021.

While nothing seemed wrong at first, fans who investigated the update after it went live discovered that Mediatonic had forgotten to remove a folder containing the game's source code, allowing players to access and redistribute this code for all sorts of nefarious purposes - cheating, hacking, you name it.

Amusingly, this folder was named "BackUpThisFolder_ButDontShipItWithYourGame", so you'd think that the devs would've noticed it before releasing the update.

Well, clearly, they didn't, but on the plus side, they noticed their error shortly after the update went live, at which point, they smashed the delete button as fast as humanly possible. Better late than never!

If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
