8 Video Games That IMMEDIATELY Gave You Buyer's Remorse
2. Assassin's Creed Unity
Ah, Assassin's Creed Unity, the game that launched a thousand memes and made it clear that Ubisoft's annualised approach to the franchise was becoming unsustainable.
Unity was absolutely pilloried by press and players alike on launch due to the atrocious state of its release build, which was rife with technical issues, such as the infamously horrific bug which removed characters' faces, making them resemble eldritch abominations.
Beyond that, the story was among the series' weakest, and protagonist Arno isn't exactly one of the franchise's more beloved protagonists.
Years removed from Unity's embarrassing launch, there's certainly a good game here - the Parisian locations in particular hold up incredibly well almost an entire decade later - but for anyone buying-in upon release, the white-hot anger was palpable and well-earned.
The silver lining of Unity's god-awful launch, though? It made Ubisoft appreciate that churning out annual Assassin's Creed games would harm their bottom line long-term, prompting them to instead release mainline entries every two or three years.
