8 Worst Things About Being A Gamer In 2016
2. Half Your Beloved Childhood Franchises Are In Limbo
Modern gaming is obsessed with franchises. Just look at the likes of Call Of Duty, Assassins Creed, Battlefield...the list goes on. Which makes it all the more depressing, then, that so many beloved childhood franchises are in complete limbo, either missing in action or so bastardised as to be almost unrecognisable.
Remember Spyro The Dragon? He's a Skylanders toy now. Banzo Kazooie? Transplanted into a completely different genre then dropped immediately when fans dared express displeasure at the fact Banjo games aren't about building cars. Metroid? Last seen in Federation Force without Samus Aran, replaced with cutesy robo-shooters.
Conker? If you wanna play a Conker "game" you gotta use Micrsoft's Project Spark to design your own (good luck with that, however - you can't buy the game anymore and even if you own it, the online services have been shut down).
What the hell is going on? How difficult is it to give gamers what they want? Why have so many beloved franchises been left behind? It's not like their isn't an audience of gamers clamouring for them to return. The only one that seems to have made it out alive Crash Bandicoot, who is only now getting an HD remake of the original trilogy on PS4.
