There are many different adjectives used to describe avid gamers. Often they're used in a derogative sense: nerd, geek, loser, loner etc. Seldom do they ever get described as "geniuses", because to many people, staring at a screen and button-bashing does not seem to equal mental aptitude. But here's where they're proven wrong. Genius in this context does not necessarily mean academic abilities, but shows evidence of great skill born from creative ingenuity, intellectual capabilities, keen and quick reflexes or a combination of all of them. This list comprises of just a tiny minority of available videos that go a long way to showcasing players' abilities inside and out of the gaming world.
8. Portal Insane Speedrun
WhatCulture has looked at speedruns in the past, but what makes this stand out from others is how much your eyes want you believe that what you're seeing is trickery or a cheat. With an incredibly quick time of 09:25, many viewers will simply refuse to believe this was done by a single person in a legitimate playthrough. Now while this one isn't the quickest you can find, we included it because the player who conducted the speedrun implemented noted annotations in the video to explain what was going on. Not only that, but they also uploaded a second video with full commentary describing exactly how he did it, along with mistakes made to prove just how much accuracy and skill is involved. It's almost as if he anticipated the amount of people who would be screaming "FAKE" in the comments section. Piecing the two videos together, it brings to mind questions about how people even discover these tricks and "game exploits" in the first place, let alone utilise them for breaking records and making community jaws drop.
