9 100+ Hour Video Games You NEED To Play

8. Baldur’s Gate 3

Not to sound like a “I knew them before they were a big deal” loser, but Larian has been making phenomenal CRPGs since 2002’s Divine Divinity which had gameplay systems as impressive as its title is befuddling. At the time, the game was released alongside the likes of Neverwinter Nights and Morrowind so if you were an RPG junkie back in the early 2000s you'd have been forgiven for passing Larian over in favour of those heavyweights.

It’s worth mentioning that Divine Divinity was generally really well received which is significant given this was only the studio’s first proper release.

The game would go on to expand into a prequel and three sequels, the last of which was 2017’s Divinity: Original Sin II and that would have been my pick for this list but Baldur’s Gate 3 cannot and should not be overshadowed. While Original Sin II utilises its own RPG systems, BG3 adopts those of Dungeons & Dragons. Even if you prefer Original Sin II, it’s hard to deny all that Larian learned in the six years between those two releases. As is the case with Atlus and Persona 5, it’s clear Larian took their expertise and honed it even more, creating one of the deepest, most engrossing, and charisma-laden games in the medium. Every one of your party members can be levelled, equipped, and crafted into a satisfyingly unique class and fighting style elevating the already thrilling turn-based combat scenarios.

They also each have wonderful personalities, intriguing backstories and, well, they’re all super hot. Which makes choosing a love interest a nightmare but if that’s your biggest complaint I think we can all agree we’re in the clear.
