9 Best Nintendo Spin-Off Video Games - Ranked

8. Dr. Mario

Mario Kart 8 Bowser
Nintendo

Tetris is one of the best selling games of all time. Thanks to a simple and easily picked up premise - and being available on the majority of consoles - it is one of the first giants of the home and phone gaming industries, with a reputation that precedes it. So, it is not surprising that Nintendo decided to reskin the classic game with their mascot, Mario.

Dr. Mario follows the same points of Tetris, but instead with vague medical themes. In the place of blocks, Dr. Mario uses pills to destroy color-coded viruses.

Thankfully, Dr. Mario was a popular game alongside the main Mario series, having been given a sequel or ported to every Nintendo console since the N64, but it has fallen on hard times in relative popularity. It suffers from its lack of originality, and has not picked up the same followings of Nintendo's more popular spin offs, but it was still enough of a classic to be included in the 30 game roster of the miniature NES.

I wrote two books and a few articles. They're probably okay.
