9 Essential Video Games Releasing In August 2017
5. XCOM 2: War Of The Chosen
The 'DLC' that was almost classed as a full release, XCOM 2's substantial War of the Chosen takes the time-tested turn-based gameplay and adds an even heftier dose of narrative.
Though the base game was already a fantastic "Earth has fallen, reclaim what you can"-type affair, WotC introduces a ton of new ways to repel the alien hordes. Mainly there's the titular Chosen; three high-ranking warriors who get tons of screentime, taunting you throughout the new campaign as you attempt to bring them down.
Honestly, it reminds me of Shadow of Mordor's ramp-up towards felling the Warchiefs, and as there's a new human faction you'll need to utilise and turn on their oppressors, it sounds like each of the Chosen battles will be pretty damn special.
Firaxis have a habit of going overboard (in the best way possible) when it comes to DLC, and for all intents and purposes, XCOM/turn-based strategy fans can rejoice as there's no developer quite like them.
