With Season 4 of Modern Warfare and Warzone well underway, players have received a plethora of new content to sink their teeth into.

As with all seasons, Season 4 also includes three brand new operators to play as in Modern Warfare's multiplayer and Warzone games. This update adds the legendary Captain Price, Sergeant Kyle "Gaz" Garrick, and the mysterious third operator, Roze.

Infinity Ward has shown that they aren't afraid to add fan favourites and story characters into the mix, the most notable of which being Simon "Ghost" Riley. Each character added in subsequent seasons brings something new to the table and progresses into what many believe to be the setting for Modern Warfare 2.

Ghost's addition in the second season of the game had gamers everywhere speculating who would be returning next. Call of Duty, particularly the Modern Warfare franchise, is full of memorable cast members that could easily make their return.

While the game does include a number of unique and original operators each season, this list will include existing characters originating from various Call of Duty titles.

9. John "Soap" MacTavish

When many fans think of Call of Duty, Soap is the first face they picture.

John "Soap" MacTavish made his debut as one of the playable characters in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Since then the man has become a legend in the CoD community and remained a star of the Modern Warfare series.

Unfortunately, Soap did not make an appearance in Modern Warfare 2019 despite several other returning characters such as Gaz and Price. The story and marketing shifted focus onto a younger Price and his glorious facial hair. While Soap's absence was definitely felt throughout the game, players were given a sneak peek at what the future had in store for our mohawked menace.

During the closing moments of the campaign, Price reveals he is putting together a task force, Avengers-style, and name drops a few key members. On that list includes Gaz, Ghost, and of course Soap.

With the other two Task Force 141 crew already released as playable operators, it makes sense for MacTavish to make a come back in the next season or two.
