9 Reasons The Division Is Ubisoft’s Best Video Game In Years
4. A Loot Balance That Doesn't Force You To Change Constantly
Although the very mention of any loot-based item progression in a game will have some people jumping for joy, personally I can't stand when you're receiving so many new items, you barely get a chance to become acquainted with a given build for longer than a few minutes. For everything Diablo III indulged in by rolling out consistently different and better equipment, for me it ended up feeling rather meaningless, as you were constantly hopping into the stat screen to refit your character with yet another helmet, sword or piece of armour. The Division - somehow - manages to alleviate this. Certain weapons you'll come across (say one in ten) will do the job nicely, feeling like a nice step up from whatever you've previously been rolling with, slowly becoming less efficient over the period of a good few hours if you really want to hang onto them. The option to change your loadout every five minutes is totally there if you'd like, but if you value how much damage an under-levelled gun is doling out per shot versus a 'damage per second' ratio, you're free to hang on no matter what.
