3. Fable 4

It's hard to know whether Fable means anything to the millions of ageing teenagers that were born when its first instalment dropped. To many others its simply another one of Peter Molyneux's most lied-about titles, yet the brand still found its home on Xbox, and the first two titles are damn fine, expertly written and simply fun RPGs.

Fable Legends, however... never got off the ground. Dogged by Molyneux's departure (say what you will about him, but as a creative and unique force, Molyneux's contributions are somewhat necessary to make Fable, "Fable"), the project was canned back in March 2016.

Very little word has come since, until a chance leak proved Fable 4 was in development at the start of January, being headed up by a UK team. Molyneux is still out, but as Microsoft are dying without first-party IPs to call their own, Fable and Xbox go together better than most.
