9 Video Games That Were Recalled For Completely Bizarre Reasons

2. Sonic Blast Man

While a console version of Sonic Blast Man does exist in the form of an early '90s SNES port, it's actually the original arcade machine version of the game that was recalled, all because the users of said machine couldn't follow basic instructions.

In order to play the game properly, players were required to physically punch a target attached to the machine, and the strength of the punch would be transferred into in-game damage. It's basically like one of those "test your strength" games at the fair.

For safety reasons, a pair of gloves were provided which players could wear to avoid potentially damaging their hands. Most Sonic Blast Man players wore these gloves as an extra layer of protection, but, inevitably, some players ignored them altogether, which led to people suffering hand and wrist injuries while playing the game.

After reports of these injuries began to spread, publisher Taito was forced to recall its Sonic Blast Man machines from arcades across the United States. Fortunately, this punching mechanic was not present in the SNES version, unless you got really mad and decided to batter your console.
