9 Ways The Gaming Industry Is Currently Trolling All Of Us

9. Unreliable Release Dates & Inevitable Delays

The first time I saw footage of Tom Clancy's The Division I was immensely excited. As far as my wish list of genre-blends and gameplay elements goes, this game looked to really have the lot and even more. Two and a half years after I first saw that early footage, what do I think of the game now? Well, I'd love to tell you, but it still hasn't released yet. It also won't be available for almost half a year, meaning the release will nearly be three years since the game was revealed at E3 2013. I get it; delays happen. But it seems to be becoming a far more regular occurrence in today's gaming world. This ultimately boils down to one of two problems. Either developers/producers are getting dangerously ambitious and pitching games that they can't immediately deliver on, or they are employing unstoppable gossips in their media departments who can't wait to spill the beans on every new idea at the first public opportunity. Ever hear the phrase "managing expectations", guys?
