There is (sort of) a saying: "Eat an apple, and you'll have ate an apple. Plant an apple and you'll have apples for life." And so it goes in New Horizons. Shortly after alighting on your tropical atoll, Tom Nook conducts an intensive horticultural study to deduce the fruit native to your island. However, just because your patch of paradise only boasts one cultivar, doesn't mean the climes won't support others.

Before noshing on exotic fruit found on other islands or those lovingly sent by mom, instead, dig a hole, and plant it. Congrats! You now have an infinite supply of foreign fruit! You've also just introduced an alien species to your island's ecosystem, and in a few days it'll be in chaos! (It won't really.)
