Anthem: 10 Things Bioware Must Deliver

6. A Fully Realised IP

Anthem is notable for being - for the first time in years - a brand new IP from Bioware. There was a time that was something dedicated gamers would get sweatily excited over. Bioware can recapture that industry kudos with a really powerful, distinctive and deep intellectual property that goes beyond just giving its players monsters to fight and guns to do it with.

Anthem’s first look doesn't suggest much on this account. The enemies seen so far look like generic science fiction beasts with little to distinguish them from the next game’s analogies to earthly predators.

No mention was made of prominent NPCs or the personality of the player’s character, either. To make Anthem both a creative winner and a property that can be spun out into a whole franchise, it needs more to its story and setting than what we've seen so far.
