Anthem: 4 Reasons To Be Excited (And 3 To Be Worried)
1. No PVP
BioWare a single player masters, and despite the huge surprise of Mass Effect 3’s online multiplayer, single player has been their thing for a long while now. Andromeda’s was buggy and Dragon Age’s didn’t really fit.
However, Anthem will feature no PVP whatsoever. BioWare's answers were initially sketchy, only going so far as to confirm no PVP at launch, as this would let players use 'a much wider range of weapons and gear' as well as 'making the loot chase more interesting'.
Since then, Casey Hudson has followed up to say there will be no PVP at all, only PVE. This is a another bold choice and shows their commitment to their vision for the game. As more people become aware of this feature, it may shake off the Destiny label that has dogged them too. But to launch a shooter with a slightly tainted reputation that touts multiplayer heavily and then to not include something hugely popular like Deathmatch or Battle Royale?
It’s a massive risk and could lose sales from those in the market for another pick up and play FPS.
