Assassin's Creed Odyssey: 10 Reasons It's The Best In The Series

8. Mythology Makes Assassin's Creed Fun Again

Noone can really claim that Assassin's Creed was the most accurate depiction of history, but Odyssey makes the smart decision to stray away from that and focus on fun.

One of the best aspects about the game being set in Ancient Greece is the fact that the developers can go pretty wild with what they include. Gods, curses and mythological monsters are all a big part of the history of that time period, and that's very present in Odyssey.

This means that despite the gripping narrative, Odyssey has the most relaxed and fun tone in an Assassin's Creed game since the Ezio days, with farting boars and huge naked statues across the land.

Of course, history buffs still have a lot to love too, with events like the Peloponnesian War being included in the game, but it relies a lot less heavily on these elements and instead delves into a world that's much more suited to an un-killable character like the protagonist.
