8. We're Going Up Against The Court Of Owls

Onto enemies, and besides needing to round up all the various villains that have escaped Arkham and Blackgate, Bruce will face off against the Court of Owls; the truly fearsome, Illuminati-esque warrior cult from Scott Snyder's Batman comics.

The Court are essentially portrayed as surviving deep within all the most prominent parts of Gotham, biding their time to strike whilst Bruce slowly spreads his wings as Batman. In the comics they're played up as a proficient bunch of warriors forever once step ahead, completely destroying Bruce in a number of spots when they finally emerge.

Fronting the Court - in battle, anyway - is Owlman, a very brutal, fearsome fighter, and his various supplementary Talons; more combatants that essentially fight like Ra's al Ghul's League of Assassins, albeit with more outright power.

The Court of Owls is easily one of the most popular recent works in Batman fiction, and as a step towards giving fans something meaningful to care about right from the get-go, it's one hell of an opening gambit.
