4. Give It The Elseworlds Treatment
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65IsSRMi4i0 Back in 2012, footage of a canceled Batman game based on the graphic novel, Gotham By Gaslight, surfaced - an alternate-reality "Elseworlds" story which saw the Dark Knight clashing with Jack The Ripper against the backdrop of Victorian-era London. The results were impressive and it's unfortunate that the game was dropped by the studio as many fans still wonder what could have been. Alternate universes are a popular staple in comic books, and when done right can give fans a new way of looking at familiar characters and settings. Couple that with the interactivity that only video games can provide and you've got a winner, case in point - the wildly popular Injustice: Gods Among Us. The game proved to be a massive success, and even prompted DC to launch a comic series which served as a prequel leading up to the events of the game, so there's something to be said for the viability of alternate universes as fodder for adaptations. If nothing else, an 'Elseworlds'-style take on the Dark Knight would at least sidestep the inevitable comparisons to Rocksteady's series while injecting new stories and themes into the mythos going forward - after all, without the confines of the main continuity to worry about, the sky's the limit. Who knows, maybe there's even a chance of resurrecting the Gotham By Gaslight concept? It's unlikely, but hey... crazier things have happened.
