The Arkham series' combat is hands-down the best third-person action-adventure gameplay system there's ever been. It's been ripped off by everyone from Sleeping Dogs to Shadow of Mordor at this point, and although Rocksteady pretty much nailed it first time round, City's addition of disarms and multi-counters was some extra icing on an already very taste Bat-cake. However, when the gameplay footage of Knight dropped and we got a look at the new combat scenarios, they essentially looked exactly the same - save for AK's gorgeous graphics rendering a thug's face being smashed into three pieces in even greater detail. Fans lamented that it was 'just more of the same' despite that still being unbelievably satisfying, although you can factor in the new 'Fear Takedowns' as a means to dispatch groups of guards very fast from the shadows, and the contextual/environmental prompts like ramming many a dudes' head into a fuse box are sure to spice things up. Either way, once you've gotten good at this sort of combat and settled into a rhythm for it, you're pretty much set for the whole game - and for many players that's been the case for the last two sequels. Let's hope there's something herein that forces you to adapt in a very specific way, just to avoid this one component of gameplay becoming anywhere near stale.
