Batman: Arkham Origins - 6 Major Flaws That Completely Ruined It

3. Boring Boss Fights

Firefly Arkham Origins You remember how the boss fights in Arkham Asylum were kinda rubbish? Yeah, and then how they listened to people's complaints and made them original and really fun to play in Arkham City? Well guess how they built on this great standard they set for themselves?! That's right! They didn't. One of the highlights in City was the fight with Solomon Grundy, and even in Asylum the boss fights had a finesse that at least attempted to do something different. Unfortunately, rather than adopting the desire for pleasing fans and creating something original Rocksteady had, Montreal have given us a game where the boss fights are indistinguishable from those found in absolutely any other title in the genre. The vast majority of the boss fights have you simply punch the enemy until you win, performing QTEs every now-and-again to cement the feeling of playing a none-bloody God of War clone. People buy Batman games to play as Batman, not to play as any generic hero, and that is a concept nobody involved in the production of this game seems to have grasped. Admittedly two fights change things up slightly, with the Firefly fight having you use a gadget and the third Bane battle (or perhaps it was the fourth, I lost count) having you do things slightly different to take them down. Saying that, Firefly is possibly one of the most boring fights I have ever experienced, as once you figure out what to do (and by 'figure out' I mean get told by a huge bloody pop-up) it is simply a process of doing that same thing over and over until you win. The Bane fight, on the other hand, could perhaps be considered semi-enjoyable, with a time-limit and feeling of helplessness creating an almost survival horror type felling, yet once you realise how little he takes off that fear evaporates and it becomes dull once more.
