Battlefield 1: 15 Crucial Tips & Tricks The Game Doesn't Tell You

10. How To Use The Flare Gun

When I first switched to the flare gun - one of the base gadgets for the Scout class - I had no idea what the hell I was supposed to do with it. In fact, when I first equipped it, I shot it directly at an enemy, setting them on fire (it was, admittedly, awesome).

I spent the next three hours using the weapon this way.

It turns out however, that the flare gun actually lights up and "spots" enemies on your map when they're near it. Even better, if you arc your shots so it stays in the air longer it will capture the location of even more of the enemy team as it travels.

So while you can use the flare gun as an ineffective weapon as much as you like, it's arching your shots and lighting up enemy bases that's going to net you the most points and make you a valuable asset to your squad.
