8. The East African Campaign

Though not nearly as ingrained in the public consciousness as the sprawling No Man's Land of the Western Front, the East African Campaign had a decisive role in the First World War, pitting the Allies against German East Africa throughout the entirety of its duration. As a relatively overlooked element of the conflict, it would be an interesting setting to revisit, and add further diversity between the locales on offer in Battlefield's base game.

In the intertwining rivers of East Africa, naval combat would hold a greater influence in swaying the tide of a battle, and grant further opportunities to expand upon the burgeoning development of naval gameplay in the series. Guerilla warfare - one of this theatre's most decisive methods of warfare - would also inevitably factor into the scale of the maps on offer.

Depending on the success of the upcoming 'Fog of War' mode, decreasing visibility and making confrontations up close and personal could make this particular batch of content all the more successful. Substitute fog for dense foliage, and a neat companion for the title's more conventional modes could be in the making.

Either way, adding another front to Battlefield's proceedings would be a fantastic thing to do, especially if it managed to place emphasis on an oft forgotten aspect of the war.
