Battlefield 1 Reviews: 8 Early Reactions You Need To Know

2. Multiplayer Is Back And Better Than Ever

"The reprise of Conquest, Domination, Rush and Team Deathmatch delivers the goods for the Battlefield devotee [...] Lastly, War Pigeon - which has the hallmarks of a throwaway novelty mode - shares some fundamentals with Capture The Flag, where the bird serves as the flag. The challenge comes in finding a safe place to write a message for the bird to deliver, releasing the pigeon outdoors, and ensuring it doesn’t get shot down." - Gamespot
"Operations, which is new to Battlefield 1, strings together a handful of Conquest maps over multiple rounds and ties in bits of actual history to give you a better sense of the scale of the real battles these maps are based on." - GamesRadar

The bread n' butter of any Battlefield experience, multiplayer here has received seldom new modes, in favour of at least attempting to reduce the element of pure chaos that can put people off playing altogether.

Slower and more methodical weapon loadouts abound as new modes challenge you to change tactics on the fly, all-round contributing to a version of Battlefield that can feel somewhat like a 'skin', but still hits home in all the right places.
