Before FIFA 13: The Evolution Of Football's Biggest Gaming Franchise

2003 - Fifa Football 2004 For the first time in the series, FIFA 2004 added secondary divisions. In the past, only clubs within the top divisions of each League were playable. The addition of these lower leagues allowed gamers to take a side from a low division and gain promotion into higher divisions through the career mode. A new game play feature called "Off the ball" was also added, which allowed the player to control two players of the same team - one on the ball and a teammate off the ball. This meant the player could move a player off the ball into the penalty area to anticipate an incoming pass. This is also the first game to feature Latin American club teams aside from those of the Brazilian League; these are América, Toluca, Monterrey and UNAM.
