Before FIFA 13: The Evolution Of Football's Biggest Gaming Franchise

2004 - FIFA Football 2005 With the tagline: "Every Player Needs a Good First Touch" FIFA 2005 was the first in the series to feature first touch game play - the ability to perform real life skill moves and trick passes. It was also the first game in the series to feature the Mexican league, and boasted a fifteen season long career mode, longer than any other career mode in the series to date. Perhaps concerned about the emerging popularity of Pro Evolution Soccer, FIFA 2005 was released much sooner (October 4th) than the usual late October release fans had become accustomed too in order to avoid going head to head with the aforementioned Konami title. Whilst there were very few new features added to the series, it was generally agreed that it had made positive steps forwards from previous titles. The front cover was adorned by Patrick Vieira, Fernando Morientes and Andriy Shevchenko (in his AC Milan colours) before his transfer record breaking move to Chelsea.
