2. Buff Film Buff - Borderlands 3
Probably the entry in the series that leans the most into pop culture references, Borderlands 3 has a brilliant mission which channels the lovable wackiness of Tommy Wiseau - famous for "The Room".
The mission centres around Buff, found initially at Buff's Bluff, a location in Devil's Razor. Wearing two-coloured glasses reminiscent of the first era of 3D film viewing, Buff lifts many characteristics of Wiseau. From him manner of speaking, where he channels Johnny, to his deliberate vagueness about the source of his wealth, many quirks are borrowed here and played for laughs in a harmless way.
In this mission, you try to help Buff achieve his dream of being a world famous actor and film star. Involving swapping out bulbs in the projector, switching the data feed from Troy's propaganda to Buff's masterpiece and a little murder along the way, for those unfamiliar with "The Room", it'll still be plenty odd.
For those with previous knowledge, the weirdness of the man himself is channelled perfectly and everything from his accent to his appearance and motives is a loving nudge to a man who has become a legend in the film world - just maybe not in the way he planned.
