Call Of Duty: 10 Facts That Will Blow Your Mind

7. Black Ops Boosted Rolling Stones Sales

Call of Duty: Black Ops might have been the most stylish entry in the series, with its Viet Cong locations, a focus on the darker side of warfare, and a surprising use of the Rolling Stones' music during a couple of key scenes. The two songs used were Stones' hits Gimme Shelter and Sympathy For The Devil, which helped to perfectly set the tone for its 1960's setting. According to Activision, obtaining permission for the songs was no easy feat. The publisher had to fly people over and meet with the Stones personally, in order to secure the rights. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkRR6bHWJqc The deal proved beneficial to both parties in the end though. Following the release of Black Ops, the two songs had a huge jump in sales, with Gimme Shelter exceeding 11,000 sales during its peak week.
