By far the biggest new feature of Advanced Warfare is the inclusion of the exoskeleton. Attached to common soldiers, the exoskeleton boosts and improves their combat abilities significantly, making them faster, stronger and more versatile. They provide a real feeling of physical freedom as the player is free to boost, jump and climb around the game world; something that is now essential, given the newly designed maps. All exoskeletons are equipped with a series of boost functions which help the player in various situations. Boost Jump, for example allows the player to jump higher (surprisingly), quickly allowing them to traverse buildings. Boost Slide works similarly to systems seen in various other games (Destiny, Titanfall) which allow the player to slide along the ground, keeping low and making them a harder target. Melee will also take advantage of the exoskeleton with Boost Slam; a new way to take enemies out from the air. Each exoskeleton can be equipped with an ability, chosen by the player. These include: a shield attached to the soldier's arm, an increase in running speed, a mute device which acts like the perk Dead Silence, a stim which increases health, a cloak that turns the player invisible like the active camouflage seen titles like Metal Gear Solid, a short-duration hover system, a Ping which highlights enemies on the radar and a Trophy System which blocks explosives and throws grenades back at players. Each ability has a short battery life though, and can only be used once per life. The exoskeleton will also serve as a launcher for various projectiles, including grenades, EMPs and semtex explosives. There's a decent variety of options (including grenades that will tag and track enemies) so there's plenty to play around with. The exoskeleton seems like an ideal inclusion for Call of Duty; it makes major, exciting changes to the game but it doesn't completely alienate the player - there will still be a classic Call of Duty feel to everything. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will arrive on all major consoles this Tuesday (November 4th - or the 3rd if you have the Day One edition pre-ordered). I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
