First up is a rumour that's been circulating for around a year now: it seems all but confirmed that Call of Duty 2019 will be Modern Warfare 4.

The sub-series has been dormant since the release of the third game back in 2011, and was presumed to be finished. If there's anyone capable of bringing it back, though, it's Infinity Ward. The studio isn't the same as the one which crafted the first two fan favourites, but the heritage is still there, and they more than deserve another shot after the third title was understandably spotty due to the studio problems IW were going through at the time.

Also, it's a pretty wise business decision on Activision's part. The publisher has given IW two chances to craft their own successful sub-genre in Ghosts and Infinite Warfare, and neither were enough of a hit with fans or critics to justify a follow up. Modern Warfare 4 would be a far safer bet for the studio, as even if they mess it up, it's bankable enough of a name that it will sell like hotcakes.
