5. Make Use Of Multiple Time Periods

While Black Ops has moved further into the future with every new release, unlike other COD sub-series, it's always kept one foot firmly in the past. Whether it was jumping between Vietnam and the late stages of the Cold War in the first title, splitting the narrative between the near-future and the late 20th Century in the sequel or returning to the Battle of the Bulge in BO3, the developers have always enjoyed playing around in different time periods.

Although it hasn't been officially confirmed, leaks have stated that the next entry in the franchise will take place in the near-future, but considering the studio's preoccupation with the past, they shouldn't confine themselves to merely one time period.

Especially considering the success of WW2, it's clear that players are more interested in historical war settings, so jumping around different battlefields from throughout history could be the way to keep that huge audience interested, even if the majority of the game still makes use of a semi-futuristic setting.
