Dead Space 3: 5 Reasons It's Awesome, 5 Reasons It Sucks

5 Reasons It Sucks

5. It's Much Easier

The Dead Space games were never exactly controller-lobbingly difficult on the Normal setting, but Dead Space 3 is without question markedly easier than the previous entries. This comes mostly throughout the combat, which hurls more enemies at Isaac but also outfits you with a far more impressive array of weaponry. The game's difficulty is a tipping scale that gets even less challenging the further you progress and the more ridiculous customisations you unlock. I'm not sure whether I've just played too much Dead Space or it seems more obvious in this game, but I was mostly able to predict the trigger points for enemies and position myself accordingly, usually waiting for the Necromorphs to bottleneck down a hallway and just slice through them with the biggest gun in my arsenal. The introduction of universal ammo is also extremely instrumental in making things seem less threatening; rarely will you find yourself short of rounds in this game. Also, the puzzle elements of the game seem more automatic and requiring less thought; often you'll need to use Kinesis to move an object, but all you'll need to do is hold a command down and the game will do all the heavy lifting for you.
