Diablo 3 Is Officially A Sales Gobbling Behemoth

Diablo 3 was going to be one of the biggest gaming releases for the year, and unsurprisingly everyone was right. Within 24 hours of it's May 15 launch, Blizzard reported that 3.5 million copies had been sold. In addition to this, 1.2 million users purchased the World of Warcraft Annual Pass. This pass granted users a year long subscription to WoW, exclusive items, and a digital copy download of Diablo 3. Wait, it doesn't end there. Another 1.6 million copies of the dungeon crawling adventure have been purchase since launch. This brings the total number of copies moved to 6.3 million, just in case you can't do math. (Insert your shock and gasp here) At launch 4.7 million players all attempted to log in at the same time which resulted in wide spread server issues for players all around the world. Of course, this couldn't stop the behemoth of a game. Diablo 3 is officially the fastest selling PC title of all time, and truthfully it seemed that it was inevitable. The only question that remains is when we will see the expansion pack, and how many copies that will inevitably sell. Blizzard may take their time with games, but they know exactly how to make an insanely addictive one. Source: IGN
