DOOM Eternal: 8 Things We Learned From Hugo Martin On Joe Rogan Experience
2. Doom Eternal Will Feature The Doom Brand Of Violence
Okay, so it might not be surprising that the new DOOM title will include the same brand of over-the-top gory violence that is undoubtedly one of the hallmarks of the series.
However, this podcast did shed light on the thought process that goes into including such a cartoonish style of gore, particularly after Rogan challenged Martin on the inclusion of extreme-violence in the game.
Rogan stated his belief that the constant stream of violence in the upcoming DOOM game is not less likely to make a player feel sick despite the cartoonish tint, and accused Martin of using PR speak to try and defend the inclusion of violence in the game.
Martin countered by explaining to Rogan that the violence in the DOOM series is tonally more akin to that seen in a comedy horror film, explaining that the violence is more comparable to 1987's Evil Dead II, rather than a more traditional horror experience like The Exorcist in order to create an experience that includes horrific elements but prioritises fun for the player above all else.
