Dr Gero's favourite creation has no gimmicky power-up, inflated damage or impenetrable defence to speak of, so surely, the insectoid android is exempt from scrutiny, right?

Well, no, is the simple answer. Cell's problem is the same as Frieza's - he's good at everything; bad at nothing. Every combatant, regardless of whether they can regenerate their entire form from a single DNA strand, must have a weakness though, so what is Cell's?

At a push, his Energy Field super could be dubbed lacklustre enough to be a detriment to his overall strength, but there's hardly any solace to be had in that when his remaining repertoire is so irritatingly pristine.

Full-screen command grabs, combo-able supers and an absurd footsie game make Toriyama's second-greatest villain teeter so close to broken territory that a limp punch from Krillin would be enough to send him hurtling over the point of no return.

Either strap some megaton weights to Cell's ankles, or up his ki consumption. You can't have your cake and eat it.

That is, of course, unless your name is Goku Black...
