E3 2016: 6 Ups & 5 Downs From EA's Conference

Mass Effect fans get shafted.

It's that time of the year once again! E3 is here for another round of (hopefully) jaw-dropping surprises and gorgeous gameplay reveals.

Festivities kicked off Sunday night with EA's conference, and as is usually the case, it's hardly the most exciting of the big shows, full of dull corporate lingo and devoting way, way too much time to games that can print money regardless of whether they're shown off.

Still, despite the disappointments, it's left us hugely excited for a handful of upcoming shooters, while a number of key EA franchises are introducing refinements long-requested by fans.

The best is surely still to come, but even a fairly hit-and-miss EA turnout is enough to get gamers in the mood. Here are 6 ups and 5 downs from EA's E3 2016 conference...

11. Barely Any Mass Effect: Andromeda Gameplay

It was widely expected that the center-piece of EA's conference would be an extended glimpse at Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Sadly, despite the game apparently landing in Q1 of next year (a possibility that now seems a lot less likely), we got nothing more than a two-minute dev diary, which showed a brief assortment of gameplay clips free of any proper context.

Fans were, of course, immediately outraged, considering that the past two E3s have shown very little from the game, and this really felt like the time to let everything drop.

Instead, we got almost nothing, and considering how widely anticipated the game is, it feels like a massively missed opportunity from EA, who are presumably confident enough in the brand (even despite ME3's ending controversy) that they don't feel the need to go for the hard sell.
