E3 2016: Battlefield 1 - 10 New Gameplay Details You Need To Know
9. It's Showcasing The Multinational Elements Of The War
World War 1, much like its successor, was an immense conflict. It spanned countless battles, lives and nations, and resulted in the deaths of millions of soldiers. Because of its long lasting cultural significance, it would be impossible to portray this conflict from the perspective of any one nation.
And so DICE haven't. Instead, we've seen soldiers from all walks of life, and in examining the western front in particular it's extremely important that the studio have shown the contributions that Britain's Empire made to the war, in particular the hundreds of thousands of Indian troops that were mobilised during the conflict, as was the case with many other British colonial possessions.
DICE have also made efforts to show the Italian campaign during the war - another aspect of the conflict that is often overlooked in favour of the gutless horror of the trenches along the Western Front. It's a great way of making sure that every nation is represented fairly, and in ensuring that no narrative is distinctly dominated by any one country.
