So this year was really prepped and ready for Microsoft to enjoy the spoils of the goodwill they have been generating for the last two years. In fact, Sony pretty much chucked them the tee then vacated the other side of the net for them to smash it in for E3 2019.
Most importantly, it was ample time for Xbox Games to get in first and put their stamp on the next generation of hardware (something that has been a constant up-hill struggle this gen). All rumours certainly pointed to them doing the big reveal - heck, at the beginning of the conference Phil Spencer straight-up told us they would.
So with the news that Halo: Infinite is launching with Project Scarlet (the first time the series has done this since the OG Xbox), what about the console itself?
Well, they just cut to a generically slick video where a bunch of devs talk about tech and buzzwords...and that was it.
It wasn't an epic fail, yet there is no denying that this was also a massive missed opportunity - they basically could've just strolled the ball into an open goal for a massive score.
