5. Hold Holiday Events
Other MMOs have in the past taken advantage of the holiday seasons to pump some promotion into their game and offer players a nice set of limited edition objects or familiars that are only available if you play the game in a certain way during the season. The Elder Scrolls Online could easily embrace the seasonal holidays and provide a changed game environment for all players to enjoy. Transform popular areas into white snowy landscapes, give characters Christmas hats around December time and even offer some interesting dark anchor battles whereby rabid snowmen and wintery beasts emerge from the anchor to spread the holiday joy (or bring death) to the people of Tamriel. Holidays are already an enjoyable time, especially for the majority of the MMO's players who are either going through the education system or have full-time jobs, why not make them better by offering new content and holding events during those holidays to make the most of the joyful burst the players will receive from the time off. Not only this, but having items from holiday events that other players don't have gives you a lot of bragging rights, something that gamers are reputed for loving.
