9. The Church In The Darkness

The Church In The Darkness
Paranoid Productions

Release: Date: August 2nd

Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch

With a distinctly minimalist art style and involving stealth mechanics, Darkness looks to be making the most of its low-budget with a cracking premise and stand-out approach.

Set in the late 70s, the player must track down his niece, who has joined a nefarious cult based in the South American jungles. Yet unlike the recent run-and-gun approach of the similar Far Cry 5, here we have sneaking, dialogue and tense plotting take precedent.

If this small dev can match their ambition, this could be a stand-out game experience.
