3. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Try as they might, very few developers can beat Naughty Dog. And when they're capitalising on nine years of builtup character development, we all knew A Thief's End was going to be something special.
As such, delving into how the story goes would ruin the fun, but know that from the get-go, Uncharted 4 is an exploration of 'settling down'; the idea of 'growing up' relating to relinquishing your youthful personality, and how to rekindle it thereafter. Gameplay is of course exemplary, Naughty Dog having perfected their unique blend of traversal-encouraging cover-shooting.
Every few minutes you'll be alternating between playing the angles game with foes across the map, delivering quick melee attacks, scrabbling to pick up dropped weapons and dodging bullets along the way. Playing Uncharted has that rare thematic tie of being just as scrappy and epic in the moment as Nathan Drake himself is as a character; a rare quality that elevates this final numbered instalment into a true great.
