Every Major Video Game Franchise Returning In 2019
5. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order
Release Date: TBA 2019
It continues to baffle me that Ultimate Alliance 3 is exclusive to Switch, but that might be because the game itself has a much heavier combat focus, rather than the story/combat split of the last two.
Developed this time round by combat maestros Team Ninja - who brought us Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive and 2016's Nioh - it should be a powerhouse display of each characters' specials and various moves firing off at once. Story-wise it looks like we're going up against Thanos and his Black Order (hence the name of the game), but we're yet to see the Mad Titan himself make an appearance in-game.
For now there are two trailers, the latter of which highlighted team-up attacks and the general speed of combat. It's a strange thing that until Square Enix's Avengers Project shows its face, the only Marvel game for 2019 is exclusive to one platform, despite the first major chunk of the MCU coming to a close with Endgame.
