Every Major Video Game Franchise Returning In 2019

6. Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing Switch
Nintendo

Release Date: TBA 2019

The only entry on this list that might not happen in 2019 (but let's live in hope), Animal Crossing on Switch is the other game Nintendo advertised with nothing more than a logo and general goodwill - the other being Metroid Prime 4, which has been delayed into at least 2020.

For Animal Crossing, like Fire Emblem: Heroes widening the brand recognition of the franchise on mobile, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp likely prepped a humungous amount of players for a taste of the "full game". Where that game was a tiny fraction of the proper Animal Crossing experience though, and the 3DS' Happy Home Designer was a painfully repetitive slog, it's about time we got more Animal Crossing in the vein of 2012's New Leaf.

Yes, it's been that long, but the Switch is the perfect platform for pick up n' play life simulation, dropping in to pay your debts to Tom Nook, planting flowers or fruit, or just chilling with the townsfolk in-game while you make your way home from work.

Animal Crossing is the chill game we all need right now, and it can't come soon enough.
