Fallout 4's Upcoming DLC: Everything You Need To Know
7. A Companion For A Companion?
Dogmeat has been a trustworthy staple of the series for a long time now; in Fallout 4 the German Shepherd is the second companion you'll encounter and perhaps the most loyal and loveable of them all. It's natural to experience pangs of guilt, then, when you leave him at a settlement for days on end in favour of some larger cannon fodder.
Luckily within Fallout 4's main game there is the option to leave him some friends of his own, as you can buy a couple of extra dogs to be placed at settlements for added defences. Move their kennels into the same area and satisfy yourself that Dogmeat is no longer resenting your absence...
Or prepare to leave that behind entirely, as there may be a far more permanent solution in new Fallout 4 content. Rumours from sources that claim to have cracked the heart of Far Harbor's new content suggest that there'll be a questline which indirectly involves helping Dogmeat make a friend in a new tracking pooch. Additional speculation suggests this may also lead to a 'romance' for Dogmeat.
No word on whether any potential puppies will continuously "need your help" at settlements, mind you...
