Fallout 76 Hands-On: 8 Reasons You Should Be Worried
7. V.A.T.S. Is Completely Different
Simply because a constantly online game means no pausing, V.A.T.S has had to be completely reworked.
Where the "Vault-Assisted Targeting System" previously let you pause time, target limbs and plan your next move, now it just throws a percentage hit on an enemy in real time. Tap the button again and you take the shot - something that certainly does the trick inasmuch as reducing down the core of what V.A.T.S. is as a stat-crunching helper-system, but this makes everything markedly less satisfying or useful.
Obviously if you're not embroiled in combat, you can makeshift the new system to act like the old by slowly manoeuvring the cursor over various body parts and seeing the numbers change, but on a fundamental level, V.A.T.S. is now more like auto-aim than anything more tactical.
