5. Inter Milan Have The Top Two Defenders

It might surprise you to learn that statistically speaking, Inter Milan have the two best defenders in FIFA 14 in the shape of Hugo Campagnaro and Walter Samuel (above). That's despite the fact The Black and Blues finished 9th in Serie A last season, conceding 57 goals in the process. Only relegated Siena (57 goals against) and Pescara (84 goals against) had leakier defensive records. Making up the rest of the top 5 are Thiago Silva (Paris Saint-Germain), Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund) and Andrea Barzagli (Juventus). It would seem as though someone over at FIFA is a big fan of Italian football, choosing to omit the likes of Vincent Kompany, Branislav Ivanovic and Jan Vertonghen from the top 5 rated defenders list. Thiago and Hummels were always expected to fare quite well in the ratings, but we still can't shake the fact Kompany appears to have been overlooked here.
