FIFA 14: 5 Things We Learned From Final Player Ratings

4. Michael Carrick Isn't One Of The Top 5 Passers

Despite having a pass-completion percentage of 88% last season, with 2,129 successful passes, Michael Carrick doesn't make the top 5 passers list. According to the stats on FIFA 14, the best 5 passers in-game are Xavi (FC Barcelona), Iniesta (FC Barcelona), Andrea Pirlo (Juventus), Cesc Fàbregas (FC Barcelona) and Francesco Totti (Roma). There can't be any complaints about first and second place with Xavi and Iniesta among the best passers in the game and famed for their "tiki-taka" style of play. Pirlo, at the ripe old age of 34, is also still worthy of his title as pass master, while Fabregas has more assists than anyone currently contesting Europe's top five leagues this season. We do however have a problem with Totti. The 37-year-old only had an average pass accuracy of 74% last season, with just 1,091 successful passes - significantly lower than Carrick's. But then, the Manchester United midfielder is one of the most unheralded players in the game. Unfairly, in our eyes.
